UPDATE: Police suspect reprisal in deadly Mandeville shooting
Tamara Bailey, Gleaner Writer
The Mandeville Police in Manchester are theorising that Thursday's deadly shooting at a restaurant in the parish capital may be a reprisal for the murder of a woman in the Broadleaf community on Sunday.
The slain victims — 28-year-old Phillip Knight also known as 'Chase'; and Andrew Thomas alias 'Bankpuss', both of Comfort District — are believed to be a part of a lottery scamming ring.
A third man is battling for life in hospital after he was injured in the shooting which happened around 5 o'clock at a restaurant near Church Teachers' College.
The police say Knight, Thomas and the third man were leaving the food establishment when two gunmen on foot opened fire on them then escaped.
A fourth man who escaped injuries is at the police station.
