Opposition Senator says Gov't's real focus should be on tackling crime

Opposition Senator Lambert Brown has taken issue with the government for pressing forward with anti-money-laundering and terrorism financing resolutions to suit international obligations and not prioritising reducing murders.
Senator Brown argued that murders are an everyday reality for Jamaicans and Jamaica.
He contended that the government’s real focus should be on tackling the rampant murder problem.

More than 1,200 Jamaicans have been killed since the start of the year.
This represents a 25 per cent increase.
The Opposition Senator argued that Prime Minister Andrew Holness must come to Jamaicans and present a crime plan for the country.
Speaking in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, National Security Minister Robert Montague indicated that Prime Minister Holness will make a national address on crime.
No timeline was given on when the address will happen.
