Rapturous welcome for new MPs
The three newest members of parliament received rapturous applause from their colleague parliamentarians this afternoon after they took the oath of allegiance.
The Jamaica Labour Party's Dr Norman Dunn took his seat on the Government side as MP for St Mary South East while the People's National Party's Mark Golding, who represents St Andrew South, and Dr. Angela Brown Burke, the representative for St Andrew South West, joined opposition MPs.
It was standing room only in the visitor's gallery.
Before the start of the sitting, some supporters of both political parties were not allowed entry to the visitor's gallery as they were told that all the seats were taken.
They were later allowed to enter and watch the swearing ceremony while standing.
