Female detainee found dead in cell at Kingston lock up

The police are probing the death of a female detainee in the lock up at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

She has been identified as Desrine Morris.

Head of the St Andrew Central Police, Senior Superintendent Jacqueline Green says Morris was taken into custody on a bench warrant yesterday afternoon and placed in a cell at the courthouse.

SSP Green says this morning the woman was found unresponsive in her cell.

She says the matter is under active investigation dead.
