Name Office of the Leader of the Opposition in honour of Seaga - Campbell
Still fuming over the announcement last week by Prime Minister Andrew Holness that the North-South Highway will be renamed in honour of Edward Seaga, Opposition Spokesman Dayton Campbell is suggesting that the Office of the Leader of Opposition instead bear the name of the fifth prime minister.
"Edward Seaga spent his life at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition. In all honesty, that building should carry his name," Campbell wrote yesterday on social media site Twitter.
However, he was quickly tackled over his suggestion, with some arguing that Campbell was being childish and petty.
"You should delete this tweet. It is low and beneath the title you hold. Extremely disappointed," one user said in reply.
Seaga served as prime minister from 1980 to 1989 and then as opposition leader for 16 years until 2005 when he retired from representational politics.
Campbell has been on the warpath with the Holness administration for the decision to rename the road in honour of Seaga.
Campbell argues that the road should instead be named after former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller.
