Transport Authority receives 63 per cent of projected road licence applications before deadline
The Transport Authority is reporting that just over 63 per cent of the projected 62,000 applications for road licences were made as at the March 31 deadline.
According to the authority, since February 12 when the licensing period opened for the 2018/19 fiscal year, it received 38,859 applications for the various categories of road licences and commercial carriers.
It said already 28,844 applications have been processed and the remaining 10,015 will be processed and made ready for collection within the stipulated seven working days.
"Contrary to reports, the Authority did not experience any technical difficulties which affected the processing of any applications for road licences or commercial carriers," a spokesperson said in a release.
In fact, the Transport Authority said it continues to process licence applications ahead of the stipulated seven working days.
The Authority is encouraging all persons with expired road licences to renew their applications now and operate legal public transportation services.
