Weymouth Drive/Spanish Town Road traffic lights not working, NWA urges caution

The National Works Agency (NWA) is urging corporate area motorists to be very cautious in the vicinity of the Weymouth Drive intersection along Spanish Town Road because the traffic lights are out.

The NWA says as a result, motorists should treat it as four-way intersection.

NWA Communications Manager Stephen Shaw says the traffic signal cables located in the vicinity of the Riverton City community, were damaged overnight during excavation works by the National Water Commission (NWC).

He says NWA technicians have not been able to access the main pull box to assess the full extent of the damage as the NWC continues to work.

However, the damage appears significant as both the signal and power cables may have been affected.

Shaw says it is not expected that the signals will be back in operation today.
