St Catherine man freed of gun charge

A St Catherine man has been freed in the Gun Court after the complainant told the hearing she was not attacked with a gun.

Twenty-three-year-old Clifford Mills of Old Harbour, St Catherine had been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and assault at common law.

But in court yesterday, the complainant said during an incident on July 12, 2007, Mills chased her with a machete and not a gun as was reported.

Attorney-at-Law Sheldon Campbell then successfully submitted that his client did not have a case to answer.

The judge then directed that Mills was free to go.
