EOJ says preparations underway for Homestead by-election
The Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) says preparations are underway for the Friday, May 18 by-election in the Homestead division in St. Catherine South Central.
Nomination will open tomorrow between midday and 2 o' clock at the Office of the Returning Officer in the constituency.
The by-election is expected to be contested by Mark McLean of the Jamaica Labour Party and Janet Grayson for the People's National Party.
The seat became vacant in March 2018 following the death of Councillor Owen Palmer.
The ECJ says 33 polling stations across seven voting locations will be used in the by-election with voting activities being handled by 87 Election Day workers.
It says it will be using the November 30, 2017 voters’ list, adding that 9,409 electors are eligible to vote.
