Illegal handgun, over 200 rounds of ammo found in St James

The police in St James say a handgun and over 200 rounds of assorted ammunition were found during searches conducted in various sections of the parish which is currently under a state of public emergency.

Reports from the Montego Bay police are that about 9:25 a.m.yesterday, one Browning single action revolver, a magazine containing two 9mm rounds of ammunition and a bag containing fifty .40 rounds of ammunition were seized.

Later in the afternoon, a search in another section of the community led to the find of over 200 rounds of ammunition, firearm accessories and two masks. The seizure include:

• One Smith and Wesson magazine
• Thirty-one .22 cartridges
• Thirty-six 5.56mm cartridges
• One-hundred-and –one .40 cartridges
• Thirty-nine 7.65 cartridges
• Three M-16 magazines
• Eight 9mm Glock magazines
• One butt stake

No one was arrested in connection with the find.
