Hordley Crossing in St Thomas flooded, students stranded
Several students of Happy Grove High School in east Portland are now stranded at the Hordley Crossing in St Thomas as public passenger operators have withdrawn their services because the crossing is flooded.
Heavy rains have rendered a section of the Amity Hall to Golden Grove main road impassable to small vehicles.
The students say they were sent home early because of the bad weather.
Meanwhile, flood waters have affected several other roads in the parish including the Poor Man's Corner main road in Yallahs.
In Arcadia, residents have been without electricity since yesterday after trees downed powerlines.
Sections of the Arcadia main road are only facilitating single lane traffic because of the fallen trees.
