Twenty-six-year-old Police Constable Davian Martin of the Police Area 3 is the winner of the LASCO/Jamaica Constabulary Force 2018-2019 Police Officer of the Year.

The announcement was made today at the annual luncheon where the Mandeville-based Constable topped a field of eight to emerge the overall winner.

Sergeant Florizel Thompson from the Group 6 Motorized Patrol was named as first runner-up and Constable Noel Chang, Group 7 Mobile Reserve, was the second runner-up.

A strong community advocate, Constable Martin, who hails from Burnt Savannah, St Elizabeth, is the leader of the Mandeville Police Youth Club, which saw its membership increase from 30 to over 80 under his leadership.

Martin told The Gleaner that he intends to keep making a difference while being a good example to youths in his division and across Jamaica.

"It is not easy to make a difference but if you sit down every day and say you alone can't make (that) difference, then you will continuously be doing the same thing," said Martin.

"I want to make that difference. My colleagues and I intend to be the difference as we help to make Jamaica a better place for all," he said.
