Westmoreland dad charged after allegedly using machete to hit daughter
A 54-year-old Westmoreland businessman has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm after allegedly using a machete to hit his daughter.
Joseph Arthurs of Revival district, Westmoreland reportedly committed the offence last Thursday, while his daughter was on her way to an Internet café.
The police say Arthurs was driving in a motorcar when he saw his daughter enroute to the café.
He reportedly told her to go home, however, she disobeyed his instructions.
According to the police, Arthurs then got out of the vehicle and used a piece of stick to hit his daughter on her hand.
He subsequently went to the car, pulled a machete and used it to hit her on the back.
The matter was reported to the Grange Hill police on Saturday and Arthurs later arrested and charged.
He is to appear before the Westmoreland Parish Court next Tuesday.
