No decision yet on appointment of Mona principal - UWI

The University of the West Indies (UWI) says the process of appointing the next Principal of its Mona campus has not yet been completed.

Yesterday, The Gleaner reported that Professor Dale Webber, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Graduate Studies and Research, was selected to take up the post.

Current Mona campus principal Professor Archibald McDonald is to retire, creating a vacancy.

In a statement this morning, The UWI said the search is still on for his replacement.

“The statutes of the University provide that the decision in respect of the appointment of a Principal resides with the University Council which is presided over by the Chancellor,” it noted.

“When this process is completed the University will issue an official statement. Until such time the university urges the usual steadfast support and patience of our esteemed stakeholders in the public media,”.
