Two killed, four injured in Melrose Bypass crash
Two people have been confirmed dead and doctors are now working to save four others involved in a four-vehicle crash along the Melrose by-pass in Manchester.
Head of the Manchester Police Division, Superintendent Wayne Cameron says the crash happened after the driver of a trailer transporting sand towards Porus lost control of the vehicle.
Cameron said the trailer then hit into a truck, a mini bus and a Toyota Hilux pick-up before overturning.
According to the police, two people travelling in the mini bus were crushed to death.
The two truck drivers and two people who were in the Hilux are those who have been rushed to hospital for treatment.
Cameron said a doctor was on scene assisting the injured.
In the meantime, traffic is now being diverted to the old Melrose Hill road and Cameron said the police accident reconstruction unit and heavy-duty wreckers have been summoned.
