The Mona Geoinformatics Institute is one of the partners of the Violence Prevention Alliance's Trees for Peace Initiative, which was launched on Peace Day. The Institute donated trees to schools in Clarendon, Portland and St. Mary that registered for the VPA's Trees for Peace Initiative, which encourages schools to designate a space for a peace garden to plant trees. The idea behind the creation of a garden is to provide an area for the resolution of disputes as well as relaxation and reflection. *** Local Caption *** Dr. Parris Lyew-Ayee Jr(left), Director of the Mona GeoInformatics Institute presents a fruit tree to Latoya Burke-Reeves, a teacher at Seymour Edwards Infant School, May Pen, Clarendon.
