The police have charged the two Jamaicans and the Haitian man who were held last week in Westmoreland allegedly with ganja valued at over $3 million.

Charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, taking steps preparatory to export ganja, use of conveyance and conspiracy are 39-year-old Haitian Guy Robert Joseph, a farmer of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti and Montpelier, Westmoreland, 39-year-old fisherman Orlando Sangster of Barbary Hall, St. Elizabeth and 21-year-old Renaldo Seaton, labourer of Middle Quarters, St. Elizabeth, both Jamaicans.

Joseph is also charged with illegal entry as the police say investigations revealed he arrived in the island illegal by boat 10 years ago.

All three are scheduled to appear before the Westmoreland Parish Court on Tuesday, May 15.

The men were held by the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard following the seizure of 762 lbs of compressed ganja in a boat off the coast of White House, Westmoreland.

The police say the ganja has an estimated street value of $3,048,000.00.
