Judie O'Sullivan was praying for a scholarship for her son, Adam O'Sullivan, a student of Tomlinson's Christian Academy in Ocho Rios, after his success in the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) earned him a place at KC.

But when Adam journeyed with his school mates to a track meet in Montego Bay and helped them win the sprint relay, her joy at the victory led her to make the social media post, with a scholarship the furthest thing from her mind then.

In the end, though, it was to lead to the answer to her prayer.

It so happened that the post reached the eyes of the manager of CBS Broadcasting Service in New York and a KC alumnus, Courtney Richardson, who immediately tried to contact the child's parents.

"It is a miracle, God is truly wonderful," said a grateful mother.

"He called three times and I missed the calls but then I called back the number and now what has come through is a five-year scholarship for Adam. I am just in awe of how good God is because I was praying for a scholarship and I am truly thankful that the Lord has blessed us."

Last week, Richardson journeyed to Tomlinson's Christian Academy to finalise the scholarship award for Adam, in the presence of his mother, his track coach, Kerry Chambers and his class teacher, Melissa Lawrence.

Adam's parents will have to find accommodation for him while he attends KC, but the scholarships covers everything else.

"He's an 'A' student and if he continues to do well they can take him up to university," O'Sullivan.

Even at this young age of 11, Adam is already a versatile athlete as he runs the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m and is a regular member of the school's sprint relay team.
