UPDATE: One of four hospitalised after Orange Bay shooting remains in critical condition

One of four persons hospitalised after being attacked by gunmen in Orange Bay, Portland early this morning remains in critical condition.

The other three persons have been treated and released from hospital.

A fifth person 24-year-old Kimberly Baugh, who was five months pregnant, succumbed at hospital following the gun attack at a bar in the community just as a party ended about 3:15. Some patrons were also reportedly robbed of valuables and cash.

Police say they now have a suspect in custody. However, his identity is being withheld pending further investigations into the shooting.

"The shooting took place about 3:30 am Sunday, after patrons had exited a party in the Orange Bay community," said Throyville Haughton, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Port Antonio.

"There were still a group of people at the venue where the party was held carrying out cleaning up operations, when three men appeared and started firing gunshots. Five persons were injured and rushed to hospital, but one of the persons was pronounced dead. Three were treated and released, however one remains at hospital. We have since taken a man into custody, who we believe can assist with our investigation," added Haughton.

Residents in the quiet rural community of Orange Bay are still in shock as they struggle to come to grips with the shooting death of one of there own; however they are adamant that the shooting was as a result of a family dispute involving money.

According to a resident, who asked not to be named, members of a family was making preparation for a party, when another family member (a male) turned up and demanded money.

The resident said the man left after his demands were not met, but not before issuing threats. to commit murder if he did not get his way upon his return.
