Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson has warned members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) that unprofessional conduct is unacceptable and will be sanctioned.

In a statement, Major General Anderson stressed that all JCF members must avoid any form of abuse of authority when dealing with the public, and therefore must not make threats, intimidate or harass anyone in the execution of their duties.

Further, the police commissioner said that cops must maintain proper use of force and not abuse their authority under any circumstance.

“ … in keeping with the need to enhance public safety and to partner with citizens for safer communities, the professional Police Officer has a sworn duty to perform with integrity; and must serve, protect and reassure all members of society,” Major General Anderson said.

He added,“Members of the force are further reminded that the credibility of the JCF is dependent on its corporate image and reputation; and all members must seek at all times, to observe established protocols in the conduct of themselves and the performance of their duties,”.

The police commissioner is also reminding members of the public of their right to file complaints in instances where they experienced unprofessional conduct.

They may do so by calling the Inspectorate of Constabulary at 876-906-5325 or 876-754-8217.
