Extensive drainage work along Hagley Park Road tomorrow, expect delays

Extensive drainage improvement works are set to begin tomorrow along a section of Hagley Park Road, between Portia Simpson Miller Square/Three Miles and Waltham Park Road in St Andrew.

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that they should plan for delays when travelling through the area.

Acting Communication Manager at the NWA Ramona Lawson explains that activities will be concentrated on the eastbound side of the carriageway where heavy excavation works will be undertaken in preparation for the installation of various types of pipes and culverts. 

Lawson further explains that the works are a critical component of the ongoing Hagley Park Road Improvement Project and are aimed at addressing deficiencies in drainage, water supply, and sewerage disposal along the area.

She says the activities will only impact the curbside eastbound lane which takes motorists towards Half Way Tree.

Motorists will be restricted to using one lane so as to facilitate the works.

However, two lanes of traffic will be maintained for motorists travelling from Half Way Tree towards Three Miles.

The NWA says the need may also arise during the period for traffic to be detoured from the main thoroughfare.

The agency says additional road signs will be installed and flagpersons employed to guide motorists through the area. 

It is reminding motorists to obey the 30 km/h speed limit when driving through construction zones as well as warning signs and the instruction of flag persons.
