The United States (US) Senate has voted along party lines to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
The final count was 50 to 48.
“The nomination of Brett Kavanaugh as an Associate Judge of the Supreme Court has been confirmed,” Vice President Mike Pence declared after the vote.
Voting was interrupted several times by protesters seated in the gallery.
Kavanaugh faced a bitter battle to stave off sexual assault allegations from at least three women.
He has denied all the allegations.
