Contract signed for reconstruction of Family Court Attendance Centre
The Ministry of Justice has signed a $50.7-million contract for the re-construction of the Kingston and St Andrew Family Court Attendance Centre.
The Centre, which was destroyed by fire on December 30, 2015, will be located at the corner of East and Beeston Streets in downtown Kingston.
The contract was signed by Justice Minister Delroy Chuck and Permanent Secretary Carol Palmer on October 11 during the Ministry's quarterly press briefing at its Constant Spring Road, St Andrew offices.
Palmer said that children who are dependent on the centre's resocialisation services have been displaced in their educational pursuits.
She expressed the hope that contractor, Contraxx Enterprise Limited, will deliver on their agreement to complete the project by January 2019.
