The Crown’s final witness in the trial for murder accused police Constable Collis ‘Chucky’ Brown testified Monday that he agreed to supply information to a senior officer within the Clarendon Police Division for the recovery of illegal firearms, in return for cash.

“Arrangement was as follows … at the time, there was an upsurge in violence in and around the community of Rocky Point. I was asked by the (senior police officer) what was happening in the community; and if I could assist in getting these guns, I would be paid cash.

Testifying at the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston, the witness said that he was paid $25,000 for handguns and $50,000 for rifles.

He also told the court the senior police officer informed him that the money was coming from a member of the police high command and members of the May Pen business community.

The witness said: “Based on the crime and violence, I decided that I was going to assist.”

Brown is being tried for the 2009 murder of Robert 'Gutty' Dawkins and the 2012 murders of Dwayne Douglas and Andrew Fearon. Both incidents happened in Clarendon.

He is facing three charges of murder, one count of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of wounding with intent.
