Mayhem in Falmouth...gunmen kill businesswoman, two shot by licensed firearm holder
Three hoodlums yesterday walked into a business place in Falmouth, Trelawny and sprayed the female owner with bullets in a brazen daylight attack.
But according to reports, a wild gunbattle quickly unfolded after the hoodlums were challenged by a licensed firearm holder.
When the shooting ended, the police said one of the gunmen was found dead while another one has been admitted to hospital under police guard.
The third man escaped, but investigators say they know who they are looking for.
The businesswoman has been identified as Jacqueline Cargill-Gardener, 50, who operated a car wash and alignment centre.
The police say the slain gunman is Phillip Grinnion, also known as ‘Blacks’ and ‘Stucky’, a 30-year-old shopkeeper of a Falmouth address.
According to the police, he was found in the nearby wetlands “clutching a firearm.”
His alleged accomplice was reportedly found nearby suffering from gunshot wounds.
“They were identified as the men who shot the businesswoman,” the police Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said in a statement.
According to the police, Cargill-Gardener was seated inside her office when she was surprised by three men, two of them armed with guns, just before 5p.m.
CCU reported that she was shot several times.
But as the men sought to make their escape they were reportedly challenged by a licensed firearm holder, setting off a wild gunbattle.
