Men freed of gun charge

Published:Friday | November 23, 2018 | 3:49 PM

Four men were freed in the Gun Court today after their lawyers insisted that they be released because a fifth man had accepted responsibility for the firearm for which they had been charged.

The Crown then offered no evidence against them.

Freed were Michael Crew, Marvin Gayle, Radcliffe Campbell, and Raffic Spencer.

They were represented by attorneys-at-law Hugh Wildman, Bianca Samuels, Nieoker Junor, and Deandra Bromwell-Daley.

The four men had been in custody since November 12, when the police stopped a taxi in which they were travelling as passengers.

The police found a gun in the back of the car, and all five men were taken into custody.

One of the men told the police that the gun belonged to him and that he did not want to get the other men in trouble.

The lawyers had also argued that the prosecution could not prove that the four men were in possession of the firearm.

The fifth man has since pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm.
