Man charged with the murder of footballer

Detectives assigned to the St Andrew North Criminal Investigations Branch have arrested and charged 28-year-old Jevan McIntosh, otherwise called ‘Puppy Rice’ of Fairdene Avenue, Kingston 19, with murder and other crimes.

McIntosh was arrested and charged last Thursday for the murder of 25-year-old Kavan Nelson, a footballer of Mackville Terrace, Kingston 19, on Tuesday, September 18.

The police say about 12:45 a.m. on the night in question armed men kicked in the door to Nelson’s house and shot him multiple times.

Another occupant was also injured during the incident.

An investigation was subsequently launched by the police which led to the arrest of McIntosh.

Additionally, McIntosh was charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and wounding with intent.

He is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday, December 6.
