Let's talk...Fly Jamaica reaches out to passengers who 'suffered loss' in crash
Fly Jamaica has made a public appeal to passengers who were onboard its aircraft that crashed in Guyana last month and “suffered loss” to come forward.
The airline says it wants to discuss “whether you may qualify for reimbursement or other compensation.”
“Fly Jamaica has begun the process of interfacing with its customers to ensure that if they have suffered loss they can be reasonably compensated in line with accepted principles of aviation law and our own corporate responsibility to our valued customers,” the airline said in a statement.
“Fly Jamaica therefore invites any passenger who was onboard flight OJ256, and who may have suffered loss, to make direct contact with us as soon as possible,” the statement said.
Flight OJ256 was en route to Toronto, Canada on November 9 when it reportedly developed technical problems and had to return to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Guyana.
According to authorities in Guyana, six people were injured when the aircraft crashed during landing.
Fly Jamaica says it continues to work closely with the authorities to identify the under-lying cause of “the incident.”
“Equally and importantly, we continue to support our passengers, whose welfare is also our utmost priority,” the airline said, noting that the “immediate post-incident travel and accommodation needs of our passengers have been met.”
