#RGHonours: JDF glitters among giants... takes Platinum Award

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) emerged the top RJRGLEANER Group Honour Award recipient for 2018 walking away with the coveted RG Platinum Award on Wednesday night.

"We were amongst giants in this room and any one of these category winners could be sitting here," Chief of Defence Staff Lieutenant General Rocky Meade told host Derrick Wilks after the JDF was announced the big winner.

The JDF also won the category award for education and the Red Stripe 'Stand Up' Award for the army's Jamaica National Service Corps.

The group had led the training, educating and re-educating of more than 1,000 youths at risk.

"We will change Jamaica one youngster at a time," Meade said to applause from guests who had packed the ballroom of New Kingston's Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

To date, 1,571 youngsters across five overlapping cohorts have benefited from the JNSC programme, an example of the army’s commitment to task.
