A St Thomas man has been arrested and charged in connection last month’s hit-and-run motor vehicle accident in St James that left a two-year-old girl dead and another child with serious injuries.

The police announced yesterday that Max Desouza, 21, who is from the community of Sunning Hill, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Desouza surrendered to the Morant Bay Police a day after the April 23 mishap along the Howard Cooke Boulevard in Montego Bay, St James that claimed the life of Sasha-Gay Dennis, the police Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) revealed.

CCU says his court date will be announced at a later date.

According to the police, the two-year-old and another child were in the process of crossing the roadway short before 7p.m. when they were hit by a Nissan Note motor car that did not stop.

It’s reported that both girls sustained several injuries and were taken to hospital where Sasha-Gay was pronounced dead.

The other girl was admitted for treatment.
