UPDATE: Suicides up almost 100 per cent
Jamaica has recorded a near 100 per cent increase in suicides this year.
According to police figures, 32 persons have taken their own lives since January 1.
Three suspected cases occurred between Tuesday and yesterday.
Eighteen suicides were recorded by the police between January 1 and May 9 last year.
Jamaica recorded a total of 60 suicides last year, the police figures show.
On Tuesday, the body of a still unidentified man was found hanging by a rope that was tied to a beam beneath a bridge on Patrick Drive, which runs off Washington Boulevard, in St Andrew.
The following day, according to the Manchester Police, the body of Michael Angel, a 59-year-old farmer from the community of Christiana, was found by relatives hanging from a piece of rope at his home.
The Black River Police says citizens reported seeing the body of Winston Salmon, a 50-year-old farmer, dangling from a bridge with a piece of rope around his neck in Rock district, St Elizabeth yesterday.
