JUTC employee accused of killing taxi driver in custody

The St Andrew South Police are appealing to witnesses who may have information regarding the stabbing death of a taxi operator last night to come forward.

The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Akeeno Britton, otherwise called ‘Bubinile’, a taxi driver of Ambrook Lane, Kingston 10

 The police say information received indicated that about 6:45 p.m. Monday night Britton was driving a Toyota Isis motorcar along Washington Boulevard when he allegedly got into an altercation with the driver of a Jamaica Urban Transit Company bus.

 The situation reportedly escalated and according to the police a knife was brought into play and Britton was stabbed several times.

 He was assisted to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The JUTC bus driver subsequently turned himself in to the police.

Meanwhile, investigators are appealing to anyone with information that can assist them to contact the Duhaney Park Police at 876-933-4280, Crime Stop at 311 or the police 119 emergency number.
