The National Water Commission (NWC) is reporting that high turbidity levels have forced the shutdown of the Drummond treatment plant in St Andrew.
Customers are being advised that operations at the plant will resume as soon as the conditions are favourable for water supply distribution.
Areas affected included Bull Bay, Windsor Lodge, Greenvale Road, Nine & Ten Miles, and Taylor Lands.
And the communities of Tamarind Tree Old Road, Tana Hill, Clement Road are also being affected.
The NWA says every effort will be made to restore water supply within the shortest possible time.
