Sandra Glasgow appointed Jamaica’s Senator at the World Business Angels Investment Forum

Founder & President of First Angels Jamaica Sandra Glasgow has been appointed as a Senator for Jamaica at the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF).

Glasgow is to represent Jamaica at the Grand Assembly of the WBAF.

An affiliated partner of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion, the WBAF is an international organisation aiming to ease access to finance for businesses from start-up to scale-up, with the ultimate goal of generating more jobs and more social justice worldwide.

It is committed to collaborating globally to empower world economic development by creating innovative financial instruments for innovators, start-ups, and SMEs.

The WBAF engages a wide range of institutions, both public and private, local and international, commercial and academic to help shape the global agenda.

The inclusion of Jamaica in WBAF provides a wide range of opportunities for Jamaica’s startups, scaleups and high growth businesses and opens doors for economic development.

With this new appointment, Jamaica has joined the largest forum of the world’s equity investment markets and will now be able to connect more with the global investors market, which will open up splendid opportunities for the country.

Now local Jamaica angel investors, incubation centres, accelerators, private equity funds, co-investment funds, technology parks, corporate ventures and aspiring entrepreneurs will have more opportunity to connect with global leaders in the same field.

About Sandra Glasgow

* Sandra A. C. Glasgow is the Founder and Managing Director of BizTactics Limited, a consulting company dedicated to mentoring growth-aspiring firms and promoting best-in-class corporate governance in the Caribbean.

* She is a Co-Founder of Jamaica’s first Angel Investor Network, FirstAngelsJA and her company manages the Network’s end-to-end processes.

* A graduate of the University of the West Indies, she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Masters Degree in Business Administration, with a specialisation in the Management of Technology.  Glasgow was Jamaica’s Eisenhower Fellow in 2000.

* She currently serves on the Boards of Directors of the NCB Financial Group Limited, National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited, Medical Disposables & Supplies Limited, Stanley Motta Limited, DRT Communications Limited, SiFi Studios Jamaica Limited, Multicare Youth Foundation, National Crime Prevention Fund (Crime Stop) and the Students Loan Bureau.

* She is a Trustee of three Superannuation & Retirement Funds. Sandra is married to Neil, has two adult daughters and two granddaughters.
