Footballer 'Teddy' Johnson shot and injured

Tivoli Gardens midfielder Jermaine 'Teddy' Johnson was shot and injured today.

Head coach Philip Williams confirmed to The Gleaner moments ago that Johnson was shot in the shoulder.

Williams said that he was notified of the incident by club president Dawn Herron.

Williams said that 40-year-old Johnson is at the Kingston Public Hospital and that he is awaiting further updates on his status.

Johnson has represented the senior national team 74 times and scored 11 goals for his country.

He returned to Tivoli Gardens in 2015 after a lengthy career in England and the United States.
