Four more COVID-19 fatalities, 80 additional cases

Jamaica has recorded four more COVID-19 fatalities, pushing the tally to 964.

Those who have died are:

* A 73-year-old male from St James
* A 41-year-old man from St Catherine
* A 79-year-old male from St Catherine whose death was previously under investigation
* A 69-year-old man from Manchester whose death was previously under investigation

One more case has been recorded as a coincidental death, increasing the tally to 143.

The Health Ministry says the case was under investigation.

And two more fatalities are being probed, moving that figure to 145.

Meanwhile, there were 80 new cases with ages ranging from one to 90 years, pushing the total to 48,901 with 21,456 being active.

Of the new cases, 53 are women and 27 are men.

St Ann accounts for the majority of the new infections with 20 cases being recorded.

The country's positivity rate stands at 10.4%.

A total of 2,173 tests were conducted.

In the meantime, there were 157 new recoveries, moving the total to 26,102.

Some 146 persons are in hospital with 33 being moderately ill and seven critically ill.

One person is in government quarantine, while 35,650 are at home.
