Clansman Gang Trial | Witness testifies that he was against plot to kill policewoman

The star witness was testifying in the Home Circuit Court this morning.

The prosecution's star witness in the Clansman-One Don Gang trial this morning told the court that he decided to come forward after he overheard members of the gang plotting to kill a policewoman.

"I overheard them planning to kill Miss [redacted].....and I didn't want to be a part of the gang no more," the witness testified in the Home Circuit Court today.

The witness testified that he was in a cell at the Supreme Court when he heard men making the plan and he notified the police to take precautions.

The policewoman was reportedly attached to the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime (C-TOC)

Noting that he was in jail on a charge of being a part of a criminal organisation, the witness said that after securing bail, he reached out to the police to give a statement.

The witness testified that he's aware that his life may be in danger after the trial.

"The gang I am in is a very dangerous gang. Giving statement against them, I knew it could cause my life," the former member of the One Don Gang said.

The One Don Gang is a breakaway from the Clansman Gang.

The witness, who said he spent just over a year in the gang, said he is also aware that by giving evidence in the trial, the lives of family members may also be in danger.

"I know it is a possibility I'll be murdered after this," said the witness who was answering questions, including his reasons for testifying against the gang, from presiding judge Chief Justice Bryan Sykes.

The witness replied saying he had factored in a number of reasons including his children when he made the decision.

Asked about inconsistencies in his statement, the witness said he decided not to give the police the complete details at the time as he was scared of the gang.

He said that now that everything is out in the open and that the gang knows his identity, he is being open and giving all the details.

Yesterday, he told the court that he was nervous talking to the police and as a result had not given them all the details in his statement.

Earlier, during a cross-examination by attorney-at-law Denise Hinson, the witness said he had started drifting away from the gang after his friend Dominique 'Frazzle' Doyle, who was also a member,  was killed.

Meanwhile, the court was told today that the witness will be taken to a doctor on the weekend to be examined in relation to cramps.

Yesterday, the judge raised concerns about the frequency of complaints from the witness about experiencing cramps and requesting breaks during his testimony.

The prosecution informed the judge that there is a report in the case file which speaks to the witness's medical issue.

The judge has asked for a medical report.

Reputed leader of the gang Andre 'Blackman' Bryan and 32 other alleged gang members are being tried on an indictment with 25 counts under the Criminal Justice (Suppression of Criminal Organizations) Act and the Firearms Act.
