Workers were busy taking orders and fetching items for customers at the New Budget Supplies Hardware Limited in St Andrew this morning, even as firemen carried out cooling down operations following Friday night's fire.

Operations at the business along Hagley Park Road resumed in the yard, with metal railings separating customers from staffers.

Many customers seemed not to have heard about the fire and turned up to do business, but things appeared to be going smoothly as they were attended to outside.

“We want to show that you might be down but you still not out, so you still have to fight,” owner, Robert Dabdoub, told The Gleaner.

Dabdoub was not able to give an assessment of the damage done by the fire and the firefighter in charge explained that he had only arrived at the location about 9:00 a.m. as a member of the relief crew, and so could provide no information.

Meanwhile, Dabdoub said that some items would be in short supply or of stock, as a result of the fire.

Speaking with The Gleaner on Friday, Dabdoub gave the assurance that no one was injured in the fire but said the building was not insured.
