A businessman is facing new fraud-related charges for allegedly failing to hand over millions of dollars to persons whose motor vehicles he sold.

Akeem Adamson remains in police custody after he was charged by detectives in St Ann with five counts of fraudulent conversion, representing five complainants, law enforcement sources disclosed.

He is scheduled to appear in court next week.

Adamson could face additional charges as investigators expect more complainants to come forward, sources revealed.

His attorney, Donnovan Collins, declined to comment on the allegations, but cautioned that “everyone is innocent until proven guilty”.

It's alleged that the businessman has failed to account for monies collected from the sale of several motor vehicles.

Adamson is already facing three counts of fraudulent conversion in the St James Parish Court stemming from similar allegations.

That case is expected to be mentioned in January.
