The Canadian Association of Urban Financial Professionals (CAUFP), has paid tribute to one of its directors, Jamaica-born Davion Wilson, who was killed by armed assailants in St. Catherine in November. In a social media post recently, CAUFP noted: “ It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear friend and former CAUFP member and board director, Davion Wilson. On November 10, 2023, at the age of 39, Davion’s life was tragically cut short, leaving an indelible mark on our organisation and the world.

Davion served as the director of marketing from 2015-2016, contributing immensely to the organisation’s growth and evolution. He was the driving force behind the impactful rebranding, transitioning us from UFSC Toronto to CAUFP and creating a modern, resonant visual identity. His creative vision and design skills manifested in the current CAUFP logo, the pop-up banner at every event, and various other elements in our branding.

His two-year tenure on the CAUFP board from November 2014 to December 2016 was marked by notable contributions, particularly in the marketing domain, earning him the prestigious CAUFP Outstanding Member Award in 2015.”

The post detailed that Wilson was visiting friends in Marlie Gate, Old Harbour on November 10, when he was accosted by armed men who, in a brutal turn of events, stole his possessions and ended his life. The police have taken one suspect into custody to assist with the investigation.
