Public sector dental surgeons warn of industrial action over outstanding compensation issues
One of the unions representing dental surgeons in the public sector is warning that the workers may embark on industrial action if outstanding compensation issues continue to be unsettled by the Government.
The Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE) has accused the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service of dragging their feet on finalising an outstanding compensation review for dental surgeons
Over 100 dental surgeons are represented by UCASE.
The union says negotiations have been outstanding since April 1, 2022, and that the parties have had several meetings.
However, despite promises and assurances, the doctors have had no response from the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, it stated.
Last November, disgruntled dental surgeons mounted protests to register their dissatisfaction with wage negotiations with the government.
In a statement on Thursday, UCASE president Vincent Morrison warned that should the negotiations dragged into next week, the doctors will take industrial actions to have their compensation review settled.
