Update | Multi-agency probe into St Elizabeth plane crash
A multi-agency investigation has been launched into the crash of a small plane in a field in St Elizabeth on Friday night.
Head of the St Elizabeth police acting Superintendent Coleridge Minto said no human remains were seen or any other debris.
Minto said the comprehensive probe will seek to determine, among other things, the plane's origin and its flight plan.
Noting that the area has a history, which he did not explain, he said investigators are yet to come to any conclusions in the case.
He indicated that the police do not know if the pilot encountered difficulties and crashed or if an attempt was made to land the plane in the area.
The aircraft was destroyed by fire.
Minto outlined that the police received a call sometime after 7 p.m. that a small plane crashed in the Braes River area.
He said a search and rescue operation involving the police, military, and fire brigade was launched and the team discovered the downed two-engine plane.
Minto said investigations are ongoing.
