The Trelawny police have apprehended and charged a man who reportedly attempted to kill a shopkeeper in 2019 in Sawyers district, Trelawny.

He is Randane Gibson, otherwise called 'Jason', a 36-year-old chef of Bounty Hall in the parish.

He is charged with attempted murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, use of a prohibited weapon with intent to injure, use of a firearm to commit a felony, unlawful discharge of a firearm and assault at common law.

It's reported that Gibson went to the shop of a woman with whom he had a dispute earlier and opened fire.

He then allegedly entered the shop, grabbed her and placed the firearm at her head. The police say he attempted to fire multiple times but the gun failed to discharge.

Gibson fled the scene with the firearm. The woman reported the incident to the police.
