Call centre worker freed of cocaine charges

A 24-year-old call centre worker accused of using a courier company to smuggle cocaine in packages was on Wednesday freed in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

The prosecution dropped its case against Teddecia Caine, who was charged with possession of, dealing in, and attempting to export cocaine.

It was being alleged that in December 2020 Caine attempted to ship items through FedEx.

It was later discovered by FedEx agents that parcels of cocaine were hidden in the lining of the packages that were to be shipped.

An investigation was launched and Caine was arrested in April 2021.

In court, a FedEx agent was questioned by her attorney Richard Lynch.

During the questioning, it was shown that the items being shipped passed through the hands of several individuals without any witness being able to account for its movement.

It was on that basis the prosecution decided that it could not go any further with the case against Caine.

She was freed by Senior Parish Court Judge Paula Blake-Powell.
