Attorney questions murder charge laid against her client five years after incident
A defence attorney is raising questions about why her client was charged more than five years after the murder for which he is accused took place.
The attorney, Denise Hinson, told the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday that she found it strange that her client, Lorenzo Harvey, has been arrested on several occasions but is just being charged after five years.
She requested the station diary in which information regarding the matter against her client was recorded.
The matter was transferred to the Gun Court for February 19.
Harvey, 36, is charged with the murder of Jermaine Graham, otherwise called 'Dada' and 'Fada', of Spanish Town, St Catherine.
He is also charged with illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
It is alleged that about 2 a.m. on December 24, 2018, both men were in an area along Windsor Road in the parish when Harvey pulled a gun from his waistband and shot Graham, who died from the injuries received.
Harvey was arrest following an investigation and subsequently charged on January 29, 2024.
