Rain in Albert Town, Trelawny did not dampen the spirits of People's National Party (PNP) comrades who came out in Trelawny Southern to show support to the party's local government candidates in the Trelawny Southern constituency.

Nomination proceedings began at the office of the returning officer for the constituency, Talbert Golding, at 10 a.m. amid increasingly overcast skies and light drizzle.

Despite the weather conditions, the PNP supporters came out in musical style to support their councillor candidates, who are Lloyd Gillings for the Albert Town Division, Gregory Clarke for the Lorrimers Division, Andre Ennis for the Ulster Spring Division, and Kedon Glave for the Warsop Division.

"The PNP nah go stop come out, and when we done, we aggo motorcade inna di rain and show Jamaica that South Trelawny ready. We a go show the Member of Parliament who have the constituency from nearly four terms say we ready fi move them," PNP supporter Hopeton Martin declared, referring to resigned Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Trelawny Southern MP Marissa Dalrymple-Philibert.

Meanwhile, the returning officer voiced confidence that Thursday's nomination proceedings with PNP and JLP candidates will go smoothly with little contention between the two sides.

The JLP's candidates for Trelawny Southern are Collen Gager for the Warsop Division, Desmond Smith for the Lorrimers Division, Devon Davis for the Albert Town Division, and Liston Wauchope for the Ulster Spring Division.
