Former Mayor of Black River, Everton Fisher, says the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), under the incumbent Mayor Derrick Sangster, has a poor track record in managing the affairs of the St Elizabeth Municipal Corporation.

“Comrades, I have no apology to say the capital [Black River], the place where electricity and telephone came first, is probably experiencing the worst leadership under Mayor Sangster,” Fisher told People's National Party (PNP) supporters in Black River this evening.

He was addressing a meeting during a campaign tour of South West St Elizabeth by PNP leader Mark Golding ahead of the February 26 local government elections.

Fisher, who is the incumbent councillor for the Balaclava division, said he was ashamed of the poor performance of the JLP members of the municipality.

“I am not one who talk or gloat over anything that I have done but I want to say to you that when I listen to the ratings nationally of the 14 men who are supposed to keep the city together, I said shame on them because the rating is so dismal,” Fisher declared to the throng of supporters.
