Local gov’t victory for PNP will usher in further national political change – Golding
President of the People's National Party Mark Golding says the upcoming local government election will be the beginning of change in Jamaica's political leadership at all levels.
Addressing a massive crowd of supporters at a campaign meeting in Black River, St Elizabeth Monday night, Golding, who is facing his first local government election as leader of the PNP, says the February 26 local government election will end the Jamaica Labour Party's control in municipalities.
“Comrades, this election is a vital election for your party and for this country, because this election is going to send the signals and tell Jamaica and tell the government time come for change,” Golding said.
He said when his party gets victory, it will further catapult it into a position that it can unseat the JLP in the next general election, which is due by the end of 2025.
“When we get the victory on the 26, and we get more councils that we have now, the momentum that we will have will be irresistible - will be irreversible - and it will be pushing us forward to the general election with the wind in our sails,” the PNP president argued.
