Pregnant woman arrested for reportedly smuggling contraband to partner accused of murdering paralegal
The pregnant common-law partner of the man accused of killing paralegal Sandra Risden was arrested today for reportedly attempting to smuggle contraband to him at a police lockup.
According to the police, the woman brought food for her partner and during a routine check of the container, a second container was reportedly attached to the one containing the food.
Videos circulating on social media show police removing the contraband, including lighters, marijuana, Rizzla packs, and cell phones, while the woman sat with a child in her lap.
The pregnant woman remains in custody.
Her partner, 30-year-old Ojo Russell, otherwise called 'Jerry Stunts', is charged with murder, assault at common law, possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
Reports from the Constant Spring Police are that about 7:05 am on Thursday, January 18, Risden, 63, was driving along Washington Boulevard in St Andrew when Russell and another man drove up on a motorcycle and opened fire, killing her.
An off-duty cop pursued the hitmen, prompting one of the men to point the firearm at him before escaping in the area.
Russell, a mechanic from Woodpecker Avenue in Kingston 11, was later arrested and charged after he was pointed out as the man who shot Risden.
He made his first appearance before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on February 13.
Investigators are searching for the second suspect in the case.
