#JAVOTES2024 | Voter turnout at 11.12 per cent so far
The Electoral Commission of Jamaica is reporting that at 10 a.m., 11.12 per cent of the more than two million registered voters had turned out for voting in today's local government elections.
This is slightly better than for the same time during the 2016 elections, when the turnout was just over nine per cent.
All 6,726 stations were opened by 7:30 a.m. with just about 130 or two per cent of the total missing the stipulated 7 a.m. deadline for opening.
Total turnout for the 2016 local government election was 30 per cent with a total of 555,880 electors casting their ballots.
